An overlong investigation into the questions facing Arsenal at the moment: what made Lens so tough, the changes in build-up and advanced passing, Havertz, tempo, box defending, and mistakes
I love you Billy, never stop. Do you think Partey/Zinchenko/Martinelli would unlock Havertz better than Rice/Zinchenko/Trossard have? I feel like Havertz, Rice, Trossard and Zinchenko all operate best in the left half spaces and crowd each other out. The left side felt lackluster even as the right side died down without Saka
Thanks for the insight, as always. Do you think another midfielder who offers a better presence in all the phases (e.g. Matteus Nunes) should be targeted, or do you think in the long term Havertz will be able to gel in midfield?
I would have probably pushed for more turnover in the squad to pursue a more flexible midfield type, yeah. But either Arteta doesn’t see it that way (it’s all 6’s or 10’s) or they’re playing the long game and ensuring room for the upcoming guys from Hale End.
