Q: Do you think Jorginho has the defensive prowess to get us to the title if Partey goes down injured for an extended period? I worry about Jorginho in the trips to the Etihad and St James Park
It'll be a little thinner margin, but my short answer is basically: I think so. There will be a few iffy moments, no doubt, but he's at least disruptive and smart if not athletic. Even if he gets dribbled around, that delays the counter for a second and is preferable to doing nothing.
We saw him do well against Man City, and I actually would have preferred him over Partey in the second half of the first Newcastle game. His little clipped passes when play slows down would have been helpful in breaking them down when there were fewer opportunities in transition.
